Trailer for Ouija 2 Shows Promise, Looks Better than the First

Ouija 2

Today marks the release of the first trailer for Blumhouse and Universal’s Ouija 2, which is now known as Ouija: Origin of Evil. And it’s actually not bad. It looks a lot more promising than the promotional materials for the first film. Director Mike Flanagan has been eager to distance himself from the original and this trailer seems to suggest that his claims have been accurate. Flanagan has also indicated that if this follow up effort is successful that there will very likely be another installment in the franchise. However, don’t expect him to be at the helm. He feels like he has told his Ouija story and intends to move onto something else.

In addition to the release of a trailer, a new one sheet has also been put out by the studio. You can check both of them out, below.

Kate Siegel (Hush), Henry Thomas (Cloak and Dagger), LuLu Wilson (Deliver Us from Evil), Annalise Basso (Oculus), and Elizabeth Reaser (The Twilight Saga) will star in the follow up effort. Mike Flanagan co-penned the script with Jeff Howard.

Annalise Basso will appear as a young girl who has recently lost her father. Ouija 2 is set for an October 21, 2016 release. We will keep you apprised as we learn more about this developing project.

This first film was directed by Stiles White. In spite of lukewarm critical response, it made over $100 Million on a $5 Million dollar budget.
