The Pact 2 picks up a few short weeks after the events of the first film. The Judas killer is thought to be dead but when a rash of murders matching his MO begin to occur, police believe there is a copycat on the loose. A young woman named June starts to dream the details of the copycat killer’s murders as they occur. June comes to suspect that though the Judas killer is dead, his spirit is not.
The upcoming sequel to the 2012 film The Pact is helmed by Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath, the creative team behind the extremely slow burn horror film Entrance. It will star Camilla Luddington and Patrick Fischler. Haley Hudson and Mark Steger will both reprise their roles from the first film. There were initially conflicting reports regarding whether or not Caity Lotz would be back for the sequel and we are glad to say that she does make an appearance in this second installment in the series.
Personally, I’m torn on this one. I sincerely enjoyed Nicholas McCarthy’s The Pact but I vehemently disliked Entrance. I found Entrance to be poorly paced, overly self important, and badly directed. I am hopeful that Hallam and Horvath will take their cues from The Pact rather than their previous feature.
The film has been acquired for distribution by IFC Midnight and will enjoy a VOD release September 5, 2014 and a limited theatrical exhibition October 10, 2014. I am anxious to see how this turns out and remain cautiously optimistic.
