We recently revealed a first look at the logo (pictured below) for the new MTV Scream series and also told you we would be giving you a first look at the show and an exact date for the premiere. As promised, we have both for you after the break.

The trailer, which debuted at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, offers the same meta tone that the franchise is known for but of course the cast has been entirely replaced and many other changes have been made to bring the franchise to the small screen. The network recently tried their hand at horror with the R.L. Stine adaptation Eye Candy and the response was semi positive from critics and mostly supportive from fans.

The Scream series will make its small screen debut this summer with the show slated to debut June 30, 2015.

The series will reportedly follow a group of high school students. The cast will include Willa Fitzgerald (Alpha House TV Series), Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing), John Karna, Connor Weil (Sharknado), Bobby Campo (The Final DestinationSéance: The Summoning) Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini. The program also stars Joel Gretsch (PushMinority Report) and Tracy Middendorf (New Nightmare).

Jill Blotevogel (Harper’s Island) is serving as executive producer and showrunner; she also rewrote the original script by Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin. Wes Craven is an additional executive producer alongside Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, and Cathy Konrad. Harvey and Bob Weinstein will also executive produce.

A while back, it was revealed that in an effort to create a wholly unique experience, the MTV series will be creating a Ghostface mask of its own. Similarly inspired by the Edvard Munch painting, the show’s mask will have more a more organic appearance (reports had speculated that the design would resemble human flesh).
