Ash vs. Evil Dead - Poster for Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead.

Listen up, you primitive screw heads: As we told you previously, Starz has ordered ten episodes of a new series that ties into the Evil Dead franchise called Ash vs. Evil Dead. The project is gaining momentum and Starz has just reached out to share some major casting announcements with us. Head inside for full details!

As we said before, Bruce Campbell will be involved  in multiple capacities but most importantly, he will be reprising his role as Ash! In addition to Campbell being featured in a starring role, today brings the news that the upcoming series will also feature Ray Santiago and Dana Delorenzo in leading roles. Ray Santiago (Dexter) will play Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) will be featured as Kelly Maxwell.

Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell will be executive producing the series. We also previously told you that Raimi has signed on to direct the first episode for the cable network. The series will be filming on location in New Zealand this Spring and is set for a late 2015 premiere. We will bring you more specifics on the premiere date as they are passed on to us!

Sam Raimi. offered the following about the series: “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga.  With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”

Bruce Campbell said this of the franchise being adapted for the small screen: “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

In the original The Evil Dead, Ash, his girlfriend, and a couple of their buddies trek to a cabin in the woods for a break from the pressures of school, studying, and day-to-day life. Shortly after the friends arrive at their destination, they discover The Book of the Dead and tape recordings of incantations from the book. Against their better judgment, they listen to the spells and unleash an ages old evil that rises from the woods and attempts to take possession of each and every one of their souls.
